Financial Freedom

They need to know who you are

They need to know about you

They need to be able to find you

They need to hear from you

They need to trust you

They need to respect you

BEFORE THEY WILL BUY FROM YOU

I see many people repeating the same big mistake I made early in my career as a marketer. They want to skip the fundamentals and get right to learning how to get ranked on google. Don’t you think it’s important to learn marketing before you learn search engine marketing?

I often get questions like..

How do I get my site ranked by the search engines?

How can I run an effective email marketing campaign?

How do I generate leads with social media?

These are all great questions but isn’t it important to learn the basics first? Since when did marketing become about tricking the search engines?

People buy from people they know like and trust. Here are a few simple ways you can get people to know like and trust you.

POSITION YOURSELF AS AN AUTHORITY (This can be done simply by claiming it. “I run a million dollar business and my time is very valuable.  I’m currently forming a team of a handful of serious entrepreneurs who are willing to do what it takes to change the quality of their lives. Why I should choose you over other applicants?” Another way to have others view you as an authority is what’s known as “social proof.” Ask a leader in your circle of influence to make a testimonial video for you. Or make one for them first. Many times they will be happy to return the favor.)

BRAND YOURSELF OVER YOUR COMPANY (Many newbies in the industry think their business is the end all be all and that that business will be their ticket to wealth. The fact is that network marketing companies fold all the time for many different reasons. That is why it is vital to brand yourself and build your own list.

PICK UP THE PHONE (There is nothing better than an offline connection to get people to know like and trust you. With all our automated systems we have access to It is easy to hide behind a computer screen. If you get in the habit of simply calling to introduce yourself to your prospects you will see much greater results)

This is the system I use to brand myself, position myself as a leader and an authority and get deadly good at communicating over the phone

    Hey Adam,

Just thought I would comment on this too. I agree on “stop trying to trick” I have blogged about this before… Search Engines, Google, Bing, Yahoo are like the major supplier to your business as an internet marketer. You would be better served to get to know intimately what it is they want and give it to them. If you are willing and motivated to trick a supplier-partner wouldn’t the same mentality lead you to think it is OK to trick your customer????

Now the question becomes – is taking massive action a trick or just learning a key principle of internet marketing. I think the latter because of the low barrier to entry – competition will be immediate and intense, copying success has become a science, most gurus are re-packaging other info with their own twist – not disrespect – it is a fact.

So when you find something that works do as much of it as you physically/financially can because it is not a matter of whether you will be copied – it is just a matter of time – when – as in how fast.

    Great stuff as usual

    Best wishes for continued success

    Hey Adam,

I have to agree with you. It is very important to learn the fundamentals of marketing before you get steadily involved in internet market. There are a lot of people that may know how to rank, but there’s a lot that do not know how to connect with people in general. People are the one thats going to help you grow your business, and if you don’t know how to connect with them then you’re going to have a difficult time growing your business. Thanks for sharing this valuable lesson!

    Thanks for this post Adam!

The “techie stuff” may be fun…but it’s time consuming! Success is more about the phone than it is the Internet.

Thank you for putting it in simple terms for many of those who just don’t understand the fundamentals need to come first. Cheating on this to get a high ranking is really just cheating yourself.
