Hello and welcome to Q3 of 2013!
Today is July 2nd and as of July 1st we are officially in quarter 3 as well as the second half of the year!
As an entrepreneur and sales professional I’ve learned to think in terms of quarters. January 1st starts the first quarter of the year. July first marks the beginning of the third quarter and December 31st marks the end of the 4th quarter of the year….
…Okay I think you get it by now if you didn’t before : )
So…. Here’s the big question….
How did the first half of 2013, Q1 and Q2, shape up for you?
Did you get the results you planned for in January?
Did you even create a plan in January?
If you didn’t create a plan back then that might be a big indicator as to the results you created, or better yet the results you didn’t create….. don’t ya think?
I’m not a fan of bringing up the past. I feel more people would lead more happy and fulfilled lives if they lived more in the present, in the now, and spent less time thinking about the past and worrying about the future.
However, I also know that pain can be a very powerful motivator.
In fact, pain can be your most powerful ally in business.
If your familiar with my story you know that it wasn’t until I was frustrated and pissed-off to the point of tears that I started taking the necessary actions to change the results I was seeing in my business and life.
And in my experience this is how it is for most.
So it can be helpful to look back on the first half of the year – reflect on the steps forward that you did take – as well what you didn’t create, that you thought you would.
Are you, right now, where you planned on being at the beginning of the year?
Are you still working that job you said you’d be done with by now? Did you get your spouse out of their job yet?
Did you ever take the family on that vacation you had talked about?
Are you still struggling to pay even one of your monthly bills from the income you create in your business?
Do you hate me for bringing these questions up?
Please don’t, because the purpose here is to help you get clear on the pain of not being where you want to be in your business and life so that you start taking new actions.
Because new actions lead to new results….
In fact, here’s the cycle.
New actions – lead to new results – which lead to new beliefs – which lead to new actions – which lead to new results. Get it?
Okay here’s how you create quantum growth in the second half of 2013 to make up for the results you didn’t get in the first half of the year.
#1 – Create clear goals
Not the sexiest topic in the world but ask any successful person and they will tell you how important it is to create crystal clear goals that have a clear date attached. A goal without a date is not a goal. Its more of a dream and its way less likely it will manifest itself so put a clear date on your goals. I believe it was the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland who said, “If you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there”
#2 – Create a plan
I recently learned that it was Ben Franklin who originally said, “Failing to plan is essentially planning to fail,” or something like that. Do you have a plan for marketing and growing your business? Or are you like a dry leaf blowing around in multiple directions on a fall day? Do you feel like your being pulled in 19 different directions by marketers who have gotten very good at “distraction marketing?” If you feel this way its because you have no focus, and no plan. If you don’t create a plan for yourself than you will no-doubt fall into someone else’s plan. And what do they have planned for you? Usually not much. So create a plan immediately. How will you promote your business? Will you do content marketing? do you have a strategy for building your business with social media? Are you doing any paid advertising? If so what is your monthly budget for paid advertising? Whatever plan you create make sure you take action and execute it immediately.
Find someone who has the results you want in your business and your life and begin to model them. Tony Robbins said, “find someone who has what you want, do what they do and you’ll get what they got.” It’s important that you resonate with this person. That their personality is somewhat like your own. That you see a bit of yourself in their story. When you’ve identified this person, start looking for ways you can go deeper into “their world,” either by joining their team, buying their products and consuming as much of their marketing as you possibly can. When I was getting started in my first network marketing company and lead generation system I identified 2 guys who were getting the results I wanted. I began cyber-stalking them. Watching all their youtube videos, getting on their training calls and trying to be as much like them as I possibly could. And guess what? It worked!
