Direct Sales Recruiting | The Skills you MUST Develop for Success

Direct Sales RecruitingDirect Sales Recruiting

Direct sales recruiting on a large scale requires discipline, dedication and a commitment to learning. Many people get involved with direct sales companies thinking that the company is going to be the key to their success. That is wrong. You and you alone will make it work through a commitment to learning the process. You may fall flat on your face a time or ten but it is a marathon not a sprint. Therefor it is the people who can make mistakes, fall then get up, brush themselves off and get back on the wagon who will eventually succeed. Many people say that direct sales recruiting is a numbers game. Just make all the numbers and you will eventually succeed. And there is some credence to that statement. But along the way you must develop the direct sales recruiting skills that will enhance your odds. This post is about developing those direct sales recruiting skills in order to stack those odds in your favor. If you want more odds stacked in your favor you can check out our generic marketing system designed to build any direct sales company through attraction marketing.

Developing direct sales recruiting skills

Mastering direct sales recruiting is much like mastering golf. It requires patience and practice. You will rarely be very good when you get started even if you are one of those, “natural born sales people,” some people claim to be. This is because above all it requires discipline. You do not have a boss looming over your shoulder and telling you what to do. Which is a good thing! But that means being disciplined and mastering self and being able to manage yourself in time. You must learn how to use your time wisely and be productive in the time you devote to your endeavor. This 60 minute training video explains how to become more effective at prospecting and recruiting which can make a world of difference for your overall results.

You must also master the art of communication. Again this comes through practice and becoming a connector and a closer. Master closers are warm. They are good at rapport building. They make the conversation not about themselves or the product or opportunity but about the prospect and his/her needs. Masters in the world of direct sales recruiting are like private investigators or lawyers. They ask a lot of questions. They uncover the challenges the prospect is facing then see if their products/services can ease or solve that pain. They act with integrity. They realize their product or service may not be the right fit for everyone but put up enough numbers to find the right candidates. They became masters through their own series of ups and downs and developing the direct sales recruiting skills through training.

Direct sales recruiting training

Luckily for us in the information age we have a world or training on just about anything right at our fingertips. The exceptional training usually has a price but you can get a ton of great direct sales recruiting training for free if you know where to look. I have friends and colleagues in the world of direct sales who offer some incredible programs in the area of direct sales recruiting training. One specifically that I highly recommend by my good friend Todd Falcone. The Insider Secrets home study course. This detailed course is all about prospecting professionals and using posture to get talent into your business.

Here is a video I made Interviewing Direct sales recruiting superstar Todd Falcone at a marketing event in Dallas, TX

Direct sales recruiting tips

Like Todd stated in the video the best direct sales recruiting tips I can give is to become a student of the industry. You do this by staying in the game when challenges arise, (which they inevitably will), and by surrounding yourself with people who have mastered the craft. You do this by getting on direct sales recruiting training calls and by getting to live sales and marketing events. What other direct sales recruiting tips do you honestly need? We could spend a great deal of time talking about mastering prospecting skills and discussing mindset for success. However, it all comes down to being a student. Learning from successful people who have come before you and staying in the game long enough to see the fruits of your labor.

One of my favorite Tony Robbins quotes is that, “most people overestimate what they can accomplish in one year and underestimate what they can accomplish in ten years.” Most people only give themselves enough time to fail and not enough time to succeed. They do not see immediate results in the first few months and they say, “oh that didn’t work.” And then they are on to the next thing or back to what they were doing before which obviously was not serving them.

As my friend and mentor Jeffery Combs says..

You have to GIG – Get in the game

then you have to SIG – stay in the game

That is it. Those are honestly the best direct sales recruiting tips I have for you. Become a student of the industry. Surround yourself with successful people who have achieved the results you seek. Don’t be afraid to fall flat on your face and if you do get right back up and try again until you are successful. And give yourself enough time to learn the direct sales recruiting skills necessary to have success.

Learn how the top income earners in the direct sales industry dominate their companies and recruit effortlessly with this simple attraction marketing system.
